Dahiwadi College Dahiwadi was established in 1965 with an object of imparting higher education to the students from the poorest and downtrodden strata of the remote area of Satara District.
Initially, it was started with Arts stream with English, Marathi, History and Hindi as special subjects at B.A. degree level. In the year 1984, Commerce faculty imparting education in Accountancy was started. In due course of its development special subjects such as Economics, Geography, Political Science were started in the college in June 1969, June 1973, June 1985 respectively.

Initially the college started its functioning in the premises of its sister concern Mahatma Gandhi Vidyalaya, thereafter it was shifted in the new premises. Science stream was started in June 1983, with PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY, BOTANY and ZOOLOGY as special subjects at B.Sc. degree course. Then it has started a certificate course in IT of Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MS-CIT) and a course in Library Science of Continuing and Distance Education, Department of Shivaji University, Kolhapur on self finance basis. Presently the college runs 17 UG programmes and 05 PG programmes of higher education under Arts, Science, Commerce, BCA and B Voc streams.
The college also runs 07 COCs, 16 skill courses and 30 short term courses.
B.C.A. stream is started in the year 2008-2009. Career Oriented Course in Watershed Technique / Management has been started from year 2010-11. M. Phil/Ph.D. in Botany and Chemistry has been started from June 2011-12. M.Sc. (Chemistry Organic) has been started from year 2012-13. Recently, the college has introduced 11 new courses/programmes viz., B Sc (Microbiology), B Sc (Maths), Stat at SY level, B Com (Bank Management), B A (Defence Study), NCC at FY level, M Sc (Analytical Chemistry), M Sc (Organic Chem-additional div), M Com, M A (English) and M A (Political Science).
